The Spur Ranch team have wrapped up their final 7 day Cattle Muster for 2024, in the hot plains of Coonabarabran.
10 veterans rode out with the Spur Ranch team, wrangling about 150 cattle and calves … oh and about 50,000 flies came along for the ride too! 😉
It’s wonderful to see the confidence and camaraderie develop throughout the entire program, and particularly come to a peak at the 7 day muster. The veterans who took part in this muster had already successfully completed the prior courses throughout the year, to ensure they were well equipped and confident in the task ahead.
Long, hot days filled with friendship and banter, helping veterans reconnect with themselves and their fellow veterans. It’s a privilege to be able to provide such a valuable program to these incredible people.

Before the Muster, the team participated in a very moving Remembrance Day ceremony, where they recreated the street march of the 1918 Remembrance Day in Coonabarabran. Led by a riderless horse with boots facing backwards, symbolising cavalry or mounted troops who died in battle, 10 veterans rode down the main street, surrounded by members of the local community. It was a incredibly moving event, and the team were honoured to be involved. See the Channel 7 coverage of the event here.
