RSL LifeCare is inviting women in regional NSW to take part in the Women in New South Wales Return to Work program – a supported pathway into aged care where you can start paid work and complete a fully funded* nationally recognised qualification “Certificate III in Aged Care” at the same time, with limited places available.

This initiative is supported by funding from the NSW Government Grant, enabling RSL LifeCare to offer paid employment alongside structured training for women in regional NSW.

A Practical Pathway Back into Work

Our program has been designed to provide women in regional NSW with a supported pathway back into work.

By combining casual or part time employment with a structured study program, participants can build the skills, confidence and experience needed to achieve a qualification and a new career in the aged care sector. The program supports women to balance work, study and personal commitments, while providing compassionate care for veterans and seniors close to home.

The program provides a clear and supported pathway into aged care employment while completing your qualification.

What to expect from the study commitment:

Participants will complete weekly online learning alongside their work schedule. This includes:

2 hours of online lectures per week, plus 10 hours of self-paced study time per week

An additional 5 hours of assessment preparation per module (completed monthly over 10 months)

Through the program, our successful applicants will receive: 

Paid casual employment with RSL LifeCare from Day 1

Enrolment in a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) course, fully funded* through the program

Training delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partner via weekly online sessions.

A learning pathway designed to be completed in approximately 10 months (subject to course progression)

The opportunity to complete the required 120 hours of practical experience to complete the Cert III in Individual Support (Ageing) Course through paid employment during the program

Your Care Work Options Through our Program

The program focuses on two types of caring roles, offered initially on a casual basis to support a balance of work and study during the qualification period.

Residential Care Worker (Carer)

Aged Care Job
Residential Care Workers support veterans and seniors within a residential care setting, delivering respectful, person‑centred care as part of a team and within an RSL LifeCare facility.

Home Care Support Worker

RSL LifeCare Home Care support worker with a client.
Home Care Support Workers assist clients in their own homes and in the community, supporting independence and day‑to‑day wellbeing. For this role, you must have a current driver's licence and a reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance so you can drive between client visits.

Residential Care Worker (Carer)

Home Care Support Worker

What is the process?

FAQ

No prior experience in aged care is required. The program is designed to support women returning to work by combining paid employment with structured training.

This program is open to women living in the specified regional NSW locations listed below, in line with the grant conditions for the initiative.

Northern Region: Byron Bay, Ballina, Hawks Nest, Dungog, Casino, Tweed Heads, Goonellabah, Port Macquarie

Western NSW: Wagga Wagga, Narrandera, Yass, Dubbo

South Coast: Merimbula, Tura Beach

Participants are offered casual employment with RSL LifeCare to support the balance of work and study during the qualification period.
Some part time positions may also be available, either at the commencement of the program or on completion.

Paid employment commences from Day 1 of the program.

Participants are enrolled in a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) Course, with training delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partner through weekly online sessions, alongside employment.

*Yes, it is! The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) Course is fully funded by the program. As a participant, you won’t need to pay any course fees. However, participants will be required to complete all of their Cert III theory modules and have completed 120 hours of practical experience, to qualify for their Certificate. 

The learning pathway is designed to be completed in approximately 10 months, subject to course progression.

The program includes practical support to help participants stay engaged and complete their training, which may include digital tools for online learning and group mentoring sessions.

A current driver licence and a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance are required for the Home Care Support Worker role due to travel between clients. This requirement does not apply to Residential Care Worker roles.
