To make the most out of your time at the Poppy Ball 2024, here are some helpful tips for attending the Poppy Ball.

The Poppy Ball will be held at a working Army Barracks, a space that the general public cannot normally access.  There are some special rules and conditions that we’d like to ensure you are aware of.

The location:

Victoria Barracks, 149 Oxford Street, Paddington

Please enter via the Oxford Street Gates

Registration and photo ID:

Please arrive at 6.15pm and ensure you have your photo ID for registration.  Your name will be matched off against the registered list – so please ensure your name has been registered prior with [email protected].

Only registered guests with photo ID will be permitted access to the Barracks.

Public transport:

We recommend you arrive via public transport or share car.  There is no parking available at the Barracks.

Dress code and attire:

The Poppy Ball is a black-tie cocktail function.

There are a number of stunning outdoor spaces to explore, so we do recommend wearing sensible shoes so you can comfortably walk around the pathways and areas.  Stiletto heels are not recommended.

Canapes and Cocktails:

Delicious canapes will be served throughout the evening, and there are a number of bars ncluding a Cocktail Bar in the Officers’ Mess for you to enjoy.  If you do have any dietary requirements, please email [email protected].

Museum Tour Times:

There will be 2 dedicated times that you can visit a tour of the incredible Barracks museum.  At 8.50pm or 9.30pm, you can join and enjoy a tour, conducted by the Museum Staff.

Auction Items Galore:

You will be spoilt for choice with an incredible range of Auction items – both for the Silent Auction and Live Auction.  Ensure you register for Gala Bid prior, so you are able to make quick bids!  You might take home some one-of-a-kind art sketches by Alan Somerville; signed lyrics from John Schumann, and many many more items.
