We are seeking applications for the role of a Cook at our residential aged care home in Yass - Thomas Eccles Gardens. The role is to work through the week with a great team and develop and delivering nutritious meals to our elderly residents in line with their choices and preferences.
The role will involve:
Preparation and cooking of various meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
Complying with all infection control and safe food handling procedures
Liaising with our residents, their families, and the care team
Timely completion of all required documentation and reporting
Skills and Experience required
Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is preferred
Verifiable experience in the preparation and delivery of meals within Aged Care, Hospital, or similar environment
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to solve problems independently
An understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and Outcomes

About You:
We are excited to hear from you about this role! We are looking out for:Experience as an Administration Officer in Aged Care or a similar Health related organisation
Highly organised and able to manage time effectively
Experience with Resident Contracts and liaising with Accounts Payable teams
Managing a Reception area including high-volume calls and emails as well as in-person enquiries
Resilience and ability to manage complaints and problem-solve
Above average computer literacy, in particular Microsoft Office and experience in CRM systems

It is a mandatory requirement for a team member working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid Police Check or a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of the role. Tailor activities to meet the resident's cognitive and physical abilities and encourage resident choice and participation in individual and group activities.
Ensure residents receive appropriate assessments including their life history that will form part of their integrated care plan
Ensure programs are developed to enrich the lives of individuals and their families through leisure, lifestyle, learning & spiritual activities
Coordinating outings that allow residents to stay in communication and have meaningful relationships within their chosen community in a safe and healthy way

About you:Â
Cert IV in Leisure and Health and/ or relevant tertiary degree
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety
Ability to assess residents' psychological, social, and emotional needs to identify any barriers to participation in lifestyle activities
Ability to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with residents and their families/representatives
Demonstrated understanding of Aged Care and associated accreditation requirements.
