COVID-19 Hotspots and High-Risk Venues

As a provider of Residential Aged Care (RAC) RSL LifeCare receives specific instructions and guidance from NSW Health and ACT Health on restricting visitors to our residential aged care facilities. RSL LifeCare must follow these restrictions.

Rules for entering RAC facilities

  1. No staff or visitor can enter a RAC facility if they are a close contact of a person with confirmed COVID-19 and are within their isolation period
  2. No individual should enter a RAC if in the last 14 days they have knowingly been exposed to anyone who has been tested and is awaiting results or has tested positive for, COVID-19.
  3. No individual should enter a RAC if in the last 14 days they have knowingly e last 14 days been exposed to anyone who has symptoms of: cough, sore throat, fever greater than 37.5c, fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, diarrhoea, or headache.
  4. No individual should enter a RAC if they feel well have any symptoms of COVID-19 and have tested positive for COVID-19.
  5. No individual should enter a RAC if they or any person in their household has returned from overseas (including New Zealand) or visited in the last 14 days, any hotspots, listed by the Department of Health in an Australian state/territory (see the section below Hotspot Contact Tracing/ Venue website for each State).
  6. All staff, essential visitors and contractors must always wear a surgical face mask in a residential aged care facility in NSW
  7. All individuals who enter the RAC must abide by the social distancing rules of 1 person per 1.5 square meters.

 

 

NSW Specific Rules

There are specific rules that apply only to RAC in NSW.

  1. Individuals who live in Greater Sydney and work more than 50 km outside of Greater Sydney and must have a COVID-19 test in the preceding 7 days (evidence of the test must be shown) to enter a RAC facility
  2. If staff have not had their first COVID vaccine by August 30 and are from any of the Local Government Areas or suburbs listed below, they must have had a rapid antigen test before entering a RAC facility.
  • Bayside
  • Blacktown
  • Burwood
  • Campbelltown
  • Canterbury-Bankstown
  • Cumberland
  • Fairfield
  • Georges River
  • Liverpool
  • Parramatta
  • Strathfield
  • Penrith for the following suburbs: Caddens, Claremont Meadows, Colyton, Erskine Park, Kemps Creek, Kingswood, Mount Vernon, North St Marys, Orchard Hills, Oxley Park, St Clair, and St Marys. No essential staff who reside in Greater Sydney and work more than 50kms outside the Greater Sydney region can enter any RSL LifeCare premise without a COVID test in the past 7 days.

 

NSW Specific Screening

All RACs in NSW must exclude visitors and or staff based on the rules listed below. There are different rules for who is excluded and the period they should be excluded from. Please check the table below carefully

Below are links to State Government webpages that detail the hotspot venues in that relevant state. Before visiting an RSL LifeCare site individuals should carefully check these websites to ensure they have not been to any hotspot venue in any state.

If any individual has been to any of these venues, they should not enter any of our premises and following all the listed health directions
