RSL LifeCare proudly celebrates the heart, skill and unwavering dedication of its nurses today, on International Nurses Day, who care for the veterans and seniors in its care across 29 residential care homes in NSW and the ACT and through our Home Care services. The nurses are the everyday heroes who uplift lives, bring comfort, and make a meaningful difference in residential and home care communities.
With over a century of commitment to care, RSL LifeCare continues to stand beside its nurses – supporting, investing, and empowering them to thrive. As part of this commitment, RSL LifeCare has implemented the BESTmed electronic medication management system, which significantly supports nursing staff by streamlining workflows, enhancing medication safety, and allowing more time for direct resident care. The system reduces manual processes, creates a safer clinical environment and helps nurses feel more confident and supported in delivering the highest standard of care.
“By investing in cutting-edge technology, we are not only improving safety and efficiency but giving our nurses more time to do what they do best – connect, comfort, and care. We honour and thank our nurses for their professionalism and compassion to clients, residents and their families,” said LifeCare CEO Janet Muir.
Supporting team members does not stop with technology at RSL LifeCare. The organisation strongly believes in nurturing talent from the very beginning. The sector leading Graduate Registered Nurse Program has become a launchpad for passionate young professionals ready to make their mark in aged care. Over 12 months, these graduates receive hands-on experience, expert mentorship, and holistic training in clinical excellence, leadership, communication, and specialised care in areas such as dementia and palliative care.
With a 90% retention rate the program is a shining example of how RSL LifeCare helps develop tomorrow’s leaders who are compassionate, confident, and deeply connected to the residents they serve.
This International Nurses Day, RSL LifeCare pays tribute to the remarkable career of team member, Isabella Potts. Ms. Potts celebrates over 40 years of dedicated nursing service at John Goodlet Manor Residential Care Home in Picton. Her unwavering commitment and leadership have left a lasting impact on generations of residents and team members.
“Being involved in quality improvement, continuous learning, and sharing knowledge with others is what I find most rewarding. When you truly care, there’s always something new to discover,” said Ms. Potts.
Residential care homes at RSL LifeCare are not just facilities, they are vibrant, welcoming communities where residents and loved ones become part of a family. Dedicated team members work tirelessly to ensure each resident is supported, empowered, and made to feel at home – from personalised care by highly skilled nurses to creating meaningful social connections.
A hallmark of RSL LifeCare is its unwavering commitment to supporting veterans and their families. The organisation offers priority to veterans and their families, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve without delay. Veterans and their families are moved to the top of waiting lists, reflecting the respect and gratitude each team member has for their service.
On this special day, RSL LifeCare extends its deep gratitude to each and every nurse who is the strength behind every smile, the calm in every storm, and the light in countless residents’ lives.
