NSW veteran employment prospects enhanced as RSL LifeCare partners with RSL Queensland
To further enhance the employment prospects of veterans and their partners, RSL LifeCare Veteran Services has today announced its partnership with RSL Queensland to proudly deliver their award-winning RSL Employment Program in New South Wales.
The Program, which was established by RSL Queensland in 2018, helps ex-serving Defence members and the partners of current and ex-serving Defence members who are looking for work – addressing the crucial need for guidance as veterans adapt their valuable skills to the civilian job market.
The RSL Employment Program, offers comprehensive services including career counselling, skills assessment, and job application support.
In addition to identifying transferable skills, it also provides essential tools, resources and education to foster confidence in veterans and their partners as they engage with potential employers.
RSL LifeCare Veteran Services Operations Manager Justin Donnelly said RSL LifeCare was excited to announce the partnership with RSL Queensland, bringing their esteemed RSL Employment Program to veterans and partners in NSW.
“Since 2018, this Program has successfully supported more than 1,200 veterans and their partners, providing career counselling, application support, and essential connections with employers – to help land the best possible job for them,” Mr Donnelly said.
“Our collaboration seeks to enhance the already comprehensive support provided by RSL LifeCare Veteran Services, by adding purposeful employment opportunities for veterans transitioning into civilian life in NSW. This program complements the existing array of services, including wellbeing support, housing assistance, DVA claims and advocacy, and financial assistance, thereby offering a more holistic approach to supporting our veterans and their families”.
Central to the Program’s success is RSL Queensland’s extensive network of national employer connections and an active jobs board. These resources are pivotal in creating meaningful employment connections, enhancing the prospects of our ex-service community.
RSL Queensland Deputy CEO – Veteran Services Troy Watson said securing meaningful employment was about more than just finding a job for veterans and their partners; it was about providing the right tools and support to help ease the transition some may face heading into civilian life.
“Our RSL Employment program is available to veterans and their partners, no matter when they left Defence – and we’re proud to be able to partner with RSL LifeCare Veteran Services to help deliver the Program on-the-ground in New South Wales to help support more veterans and their partners,” Mr Watson said.
“The business and community connections that our Employment Program has are at the core of how we link our clients to a wide range of jobs across multiple industries. The organisations we work with truly understand and value the unique skills and characteristics ex-Defence members and their partners bring to their organisation time and time again.”
As part of the RSL Employment Program, participants receive personalised support from dedicated Employment Consultants who work closely with each individual to understand their unique skills and career aspirations. The program’s flexibility allows veterans and partners of current and ex-serving Defence members to access support in person, or remotely depending on their needs.
RSL LifeCare Veteran Services, is the social purpose partner of RSL NSW, and is dedicated to the continued support, growth, and wellbeing of our veteran community. The rollout of RSL Queensland’s RSL Employment Program in NSW is a valuable addition to the range of support services offered by RSL LifeCare’s Veteran Services to veterans and their families.
