Become a Certified Mental Health First Aider

Join our free two-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course, focused on supporting former ADF members and their families.

Learn to recognise common mental health concerns and respond effectively in a crisis. You’ll gain practical skills to provide initial support until professional help is available. Key topics include depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, and suicide risk.

The course is practical, clear, and delivered by accredited instructors from Mental Health First Aid Australia.

On completion, you’ll be an Accredited Mental Health First Aider—a valuable capability for any community member.

This course is only available to members of the veteran community, including:

✅ Family members, partners, and carers

Why to enrol in this course

Gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support veterans experiencing mental health problems or crises through free Mental Health First Aid training.

Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults, how to recognise and respond to an emerging or worsening mental health problem and the treatments and supports available.

Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, course participants learn how to approach someone they are concerned about and initiate a conversation about those concerns. Participants also learn how to offer initial support and information and how to encourage the person to seek professional help or other supports.
