RSL LifeCare has today unveiled the permanent location for its new North Coast Veteran and Family Hub, following consultation with local veterans, their families, ex-service organisations and community leaders.
The new hub will be situated on Level 3, 145 Wharf Street, Tweed Heads – a location chosen in direct response to the needs and feedback of the local veteran community.
Designed to provide a comprehensive suite of services, the Veteran and Family Hub will support over 25,000 veterans and their families in the region with access to financial assistance, DVA claims and advocacy support, employment services, transitional housing pathways, and wellbeing programs and social connection opportunities.
Feedback from the community consultation helped shape the vision for the Hub, identifying key priorities such as access to health and social support, housing assistance, flexible meeting spaces, quiet areas, child-friendly zones, and a strong emphasis on community connection and advocacy.
The announcement was made today at a community consultation event in Tweed Heads, attended by RSL LifeCare CEO Janet Muir, representatives from the City of Lismore, Kingscliff and Ballina RSL sub-Branches, Tweed Shire Councillors, and Federal Member for Richmond, Justine Elliott. As part of the announcement, the new concept designs for the new hub were also revealed.
“We are deeply grateful to the veteran community for their input in guiding the development of this new hub. This North Coast Veteran and Family Hub will be a welcoming, inclusive and purpose-built space that reflects the voices and needs of local veterans and their families,” said Ms Muir.
“This Hub represents more than just a building – it is a commitment to honouring the service of veterans through meaningful, practical support. We want every veteran who walks through our doors to feel seen, supported, and respected.”
“For those who can’t come to us, we’ll come to them. A dedicated outreach vehicle will allow us to extend our services across the region, ensuring no veteran or family member is left without access to the support they deserve,” Ms. Muir added.
The Tweed Heads location joins a growing network of Veteran and Family Hubs operated by RSL LifeCare in partnership with RSL NSW. Current locations include Wagga Wagga, Shoalhaven, the Northern Beaches, Newcastle, Queanbeyan and the Central Coast. New hubs are also in development in the Hunter region, the South Western Sydney corridor, and the ACT.
In addition to providing high quality residential care, retirement living and home care services to veterans and their families, RSL LifeCare delivered record support to the veteran community last financial period, including:
