MEET DAN REPACHOLI – STANDING UP FOR MEN’S HEALTH
Dad, Olympian, Federal Member for Hunter, and Special Envoy for Men’s Health
Dan Repacholi is a five-time Olympian and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist. He is over two metres tall, has a unique bushy beard and a quirky sense of humour (just see his social media!).
At 15, he finished school and got his trade as a fitter and turner. He has worked as a coal miner and was the manager of a medium-sized machinery sales business that serviced the mining and agricultural sectors.
Dan is married to his wife Alex, and they are raising their two young girls in the Hunter Valley. He has worked hard his whole life to build a better future for himself, and his family.
He was elected the Member for Hunter at the 2022 federal election.
Dan admits he has over-indulged at times and is known for producing an annual calendar with photos of him eating hamburgers around the Hunter region.
After the re-election of the Labor government in 2025, Dan was appointed Special Envoy for Men’s Health, working under the health minister, Mark Butler.
The MP says his advocacy role will cover all aspects of men’s health, physical and mental. He acknowledges the importance of organisations like Men’s Sheds, including virtual ones, as avenues he thinks work well, but also raised concerns about how adolescents learned about relationships.
As the Special Envoy for Men’s Health, Dan is committed to shining a national spotlight on the unique health challenges facing Australian men and boys, from mental health and suicide prevention to chronic illness and access to healthcare services.
He is passionate about working closely with experts, advocates, and the community to ensure a health system that works for everyone.
