This Anzac Day, we set off before dawn to climb the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge with 13 climbers and a media contingent in the main group as well as 43 additional public climbers all wishing to take part in this special event.
At dawn, we hosted an Anzac Day Dawn service at the top of the bridge. The official address was delivered by Justin Donnelly, RSL LifeCare General Manager, who spoke of what his service and mateship during his numerous deployments. Our bugler was Warrant Officer Stephen Johnson who played the Last Post and Reveille.
As the sun rose over the harbour, and the full moon on the opposite side of a clear sky, we were reminded of the selfless sacrifices that our country men and women have made, for us to live in such a fortunate country. We were lucky to have Minister David Harris, NSW Veterans Minister, deliver the final address who spoke of the sacrifice of those who serve their country.
Thank you to BridgeClimb Sydney for your support. Together, the climbers raised $4300 for RSL LifeCare Veteran Services, which helps provide key support for veterans and their families. If you’d like to contribute to the cause, visit https://rsllifecare.org.au/veteran-services/donate/
