Peter Boughton was born on February 18, 1951, at the Sydney Women’s Hospital. His early years were filled with beautiful memories, especially his close bond with his father. Peter found solace in surfing at Cronulla, often traveling in his fitted-out panel van.
After completing school, Peter enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy and served for 27 years. His tenure included significant contributions during the Vietnam War. Some of his cherished memories from his time in the Navy are the moments spent docked at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.
Among his proudest and fondest memories is the arrival of his children, Sharna and Joshua. Peter treasures spending time with Sharna, especially when they go out to feed her horses and attend to the gardens, where he takes pride nourishing the strawberry patch.
Raising his children mostly on his own in Huskisson, Peter ensured they had an idyllic childhood near the beach, always engaging in activities like fishing, swimming, and surfing.
After retiring from the Navy, Peter devoted 15 years to volunteering with the Rural Fire Service, serving as captain in Huskisson.
At RSL LifeCare Jonathan Rogers GC House, Peter often spends time in his room, watching TV or engaging in conversations with RSL LifeCare team members. He is a big Sydney Roosters supporter and loves watching all their games. While he prefers occasional solitude, he joins other residents in chosen activities, sharing hearty laughter and camaraderie. His favourite pastime involves joining bus outings, assisting the lifestyle team, and watching football. He also loves representing the naval services during Anzac and Remembrance Day services, often leading the call to commemoration and laying wreaths.
