Home Care Packages support you to live independently in your home and community.
Home Care Packages will be replaced by a new Support at Home program from 1 July 2025. In the meantime, you can still access the current Home Care Packages. Best of all, your funding will be transferred automatically to the new program when it launches – no additional assessment will be required.  Learn more about Support at Home here.
The current Home Care Packages are tailored to you, so you can use your package to achieve your goals and live the lifestyle you’re looking for.
There are four levels to meet different levels of needs, from Basic (Level 1) to High (Level 4).
This allows you to choose the kind of assistance you want, determine how the funding in your package is spent, and change your choices if and when you choose.
What services can I choose for a Home Care Package or from the Support at Home program?
The support you need and the things you enjoy are our top priority. You’ll find a great variety of activities and services available to you. There’s social outings, yoga and aqua aerobics, transport, cleaning and housekeeping, lawns and gardening, nursing and allied health and so much more for you to choose.
The support we can offer includes help for:
- Clinical Care – support services such as nursing care and occupational therapy
- Independence – such as help with showring, getting dressed, transport or respite care
- Everyday living – such as cleaning, gardening, shopping or meal preparation
How is the cost of a Home Care Package (HCP) covered?
The Australian Government subsidises the cost of many of the services offered in a Home Care Package (HCP) and under the new Support at Home program. Customers are asked to make a co-payment as well, which is usually known as an income-tested care fee. The level of individual contribution may vary and is determined by Services Australia.
