RSL LifeCare a finalist in Best Graduate Development Program – Australian HR Awards 2023

August 2023 – RSL LifeCare’s Graduate Registered Nurse Program has been announced as a finalist in the Australian HR Awards 2023, Best Graduate Development Program category.

The award recognises excellence and innovation in graduate development programs and initiatives in organisations Australia wide. Judged on consultation, strategy, implementation, and results, the winner will be announced on 1 September 2023.

Designed and created by the RSL LifeCare Learning & Organisational Development team, the team consulted with internal and external experts in Aged Care to understand what matters to Registered Nurses in their graduate year and their careers, to shape the program and continue to make refinements as we learn and better understand the needs of graduates.

Securing this finalist recognition shines a spotlight on our program and the hard work we have done to compete in a fierce market.

The program is now in its second year and is making a significant impact to our organisation, with a 75% increase in the number of Registered Nurse Graduates being employed by RSL LifeCare, and 100% retention in the first six months.

We are honoured to be a finalist with such an outstanding calibre of finalist being Capgemini, CMA CGM Group, KPMG, Kraft Heinz, Leader IT and REA Group.

RSL LifeCare CEO Janet Muir proudly commented “The Graduate Registered Nurse Program is an integral part of the specialist training we deliver to make our Graduate Nurses, job ready, for the Aged Care sector. It’s a very worthwhile investment to ensure the high standard we strive to achieve, especially when Registered Nurses are the backbone of the clinical care that we provide for our residents.

RSL LifeCare’s commitment to the development of Registered Nurses is being positively felt by our communities. Our Registered Nurses are telling us they are more engaged in their roles because of the graduate community we have created, and by the investment in them and their careers.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our talented Graduate Nurses for their dedication, compassion and professionalism as they enrich veterans’ and seniors’ lives.”

The program has garnered high praise from participants. Talia Bryce, a Registered Nurse who participated in the program, shared her thoughts on the impact it had on her career:

“Being part of the new grad program has given me the confidence and skills to advance my career as a Registered Nurse in Aged Care. Being supported by the L&OD team to be able to enable the best possible care for our elderly has been an invaluable experience. I recommend anyone who has finished their nursing degree recently who is interested in Aged Care to definitely apply for this wonderful and supportive program.” – Talia Bryce

We believe that we have set a benchmark for other Aged Care providers to provide support for graduates, which will support the senior community. And of course, we look forward to the final Award results in September and congratulate all finalists in this great achievement and investment in educating graduates entering their desired field of employment and fulfilling career.
