RSL LifeCare appoints new Chief Executive Officer

The Board of RSL LifeCare is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Laurie Leigh as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RSL LifeCare, with effect 3 September 2018.

Laurie is a senior executive with experience across aged care, acute care, primary healthcare, mental health and Aboriginal health. She has a proven ability to lead complex organisations.

She was formerly the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO with the Whiddon Group, a leading not-for-profit aged and community care provider based in NSW. Laurie led the development of new models of care and innovation, for which Whiddon’s was recognised among the Australian Financial Review’s “Top 50 innovative companies in Australia and New Zealand in 2017 and in 2018”.

A hallmark of her career has been transformational change of organisations, building skills and relationships in complex multi-stakeholder environments together with sound corporate governance, financial and human resource management. Her experience, coupled with her thoughtful style and passion for leading change, equip her as an excellent advocate, both externally and within our organisation.

Laurie describes herself as being calm, nurturing, and a deep thinker. With her ‘true north’ being her ethics and a value set closely aligned to those of RSL LifeCare, the Veteran community, and older Australians whom we serve.

Characteristic of Laurie’s commitment to building a culture of all-round excellence is her desire to create a great place to live, work or receive services. Her focus is on creating a ‘vision that pulls you’; to be the best you can, in support of those entrusted in our care.

Originally from the UK, Laurie has a BA Hons in Maths and Psychology (Cambridge) and a Diploma in Nursing Studies. Moving to Australia she undertook a Master’s in Health Services Management (UTS) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

The Board looks forward to Laurie joining our talented leadership team in continuing to build on the legacy of RSL LifeCare as we move forward in our core services in home care, retirement living and residential aged care, with a particular focus on the needs of our veteran community.

On behalf of the Board of Directors at RSL LifeCare, we congratulate Laurie on her appointment and invite everyone to welcome her as she leads us into our next chapter.
