Payroll irregularities identified
RSL LifeCare today confirmed that software issues in its rostering system had seen a minority of staff incorrectly paid for overtime and weekend penalty rates under their Enterprise Agreement.
RSL LifeCare’s early indication suggests approximately four percent of its workforce may be affected.
RSL LifeCare CEO Laurie Leigh said that whilst the issue has been addressed for current employees going forward, a full independent audit has been commissioned to understand how far back the irregularities go.
“In gradually transferring information across from our current SAM rostering system to a new Riteq rostering system late last year, it became apparent that some people have been incorrectly paid and had not received the correct overtime or weekend penalty rates they were due,” she said.
“Having understood where the errors lie, we have been able to make the necessary changes in the system so that wages are now being paid accurately.
“We have asked an independent auditor to provide a forensic assessment of how long this issue has been with us, to ensure all current and former staff are paid every cent of backpay that they deserve.
“That process could take several months, but we are determined to get it right.
“We are contacting individuals who have been directly affected to explain what it means for them and to apologise.
“This is an unfortunate and distressing error. We are doing everything we can to fix the problem, and to ensure it never happens again.”
