University Affiliation and Awards

– “In partnership with ACU”

In 2004, formal links between RSL LifeCare and ACU (Australian Catholic University) were established and our reputation for quality and care was further developed with RSL LifeCare becoming a University Affiliated Teaching Centre for Senior Living. We have established a University Chair on site at RSL LifeCare to facilitate research and education into ageing.

Dr Tracey McDonald

RSL LifeCare’s Professor of Ageing was appointed in early 2005 – Dr Tracey McDonald. Dr McDonald has had extensive experience in aged and community care matters and is closely involved with aged care issues arising from Federal and State legislation and policy related to the aged care sector. Her 40 years’ experience in the nursing environment in education, research and practice development means that she will be extending the research base in aged care to attain world class practice.

Tracey has a Doctorate of Philosophy and her professional experience and academic qualifications cover the areas of public health, health administration and management, nursing, education and midwifery. Tracey has established a local and international scholarship profile through participation in writing, research, professional conferences and associations. She has experience in multi-disciplinary research, has held various leadership roles and has supervised both graduate student and staff projects. Her publication record spans more than 20 years and her substantial academic teaching performance earned her a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for innovative and effective approaches to teaching and learning.
